Little Dipper
A West Wight Potter 15', Sail Number 1618, Built in 1987

Little Dipper (LD) was originally purchased by Holland and Sallie Webb, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. When Holland Web passed on, Sallie sold LD to me in the Fall of 1999. I was delighted at the the quality of work done by Sallie and Holland during the 12 years that the Webbs had owned LD. All of the rigging was in top-notch condition. There were new sails, a superb finish on the brightwork, and a non-skid off-white finish in the cockpit. There was no mildew, nor even a musty smell in the cabin.

I am most fortunate, as wife Barbara has adopted LD as a daughter, rather than regarding her as "the other woman". This remarkable and very welcome acceptance has led Barbara to buy what she calls "jewelry" for LD - cheek block, hatches, a boom vang, and many other little polished parts that keep a boat on the right side of the water. I have installed floorboards and carpeting in the cabin, as the original molded fiberglass cabin liner was beginning to show cracks.

I moved the sheeting aft to allow use of a bimini on hot, bright days. The main sheet block is now secured to the top of the rudder post, and there is a jam cleat on the top of the tiller for those lazy reaches. I also added a boom vang to better control the shape of the sail, and a topping lift to keep the boom under control when rigging and reefing.
